Xiaomi is developing flexible display technology for health bracelets
As the market for fitness bracelets needs to change, the next expected upgrade will be more screens for user use. For smartphones, the next generation will be clamshell devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Oppo Find N, and rolling devices such as the Oppo X 2021 and TCL concept devices with flexible displays.
For fitness straps, Xiaomi seems to have created a new design for its fitness bracelets using flexible displays.
The news comes from a Chinese patent database, as Xiaomi recently approved a design patent for a fitness strap that includes a flexible roll-screen display. The design of the device is as follows, so that "A" refers to the part where the flexible screen is installed.
According to the patent list, the name of the patent design is called "smart bracelet" and its function is classified in the category of wearables. This patent shows that the unique design of the smart strap focuses on the shape and ergonomics of the fitness strap.
This patent includes views of the design of the fitness strap from different angles, part of which you can see below:
Xiaomi is not the first manufacturer to test a flexible display for wearable devices, because in 2020, Nubia introduced its own flexible display that folds down until it wraps around the front of your wrist.
Nubia Watch 2020
The Nubia Watch has a super-flexible 4.01-inch AMOLED display that tends to wrap around the wrist. The plate is made of a lightweight aluminum alloy using a nano-injection process, while medical grade ceramics are used next to it. The overall lightweight design makes it lighter in weight.
The Nubia Watch was launched on Kickstarter and started at $ 179 in September 2020.
