How to activate the second space if your Xiaomi does not have this option

MIUI's Second Space functionality allows us to have two smartphones in one. A way to divide our Xiaomi into two different accounts , either for personal and work use, to perform tests or simply, to prevent our son or little brother from accessing our applications and documents.

Unfortunately, terminals like the Redmi Note 10 lack this functionality . The same happens with other terminals of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO of mid-range and entry. If we access the Settings, this functionality is not found among the various MIUI options .

Even so, there is a little trick that allows us to access the Second Space functionality even if your Xiaomi does not have it . In this way we can create a second space without any type of restriction and in any Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO.

Activate the second space on your Xiaomi

If your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO does not have the Second space functionality when accessing Settings> Special functions , do not worry, below we will explain how to use it without any type of restriction:

  1. The first thing we have to do is download Activity Launcher from Google Play . It is a free application that allows us to access various MIUI settings, regardless of whether they are hidden or restricted.
  2. Once the Activity Launcher application is installed, we just have to search through the magnifying glass icon « Second space » and start the one ending in « eSettingActivity «.

In this way, the Second space function will be opened automatically even if our Xiaomi does not have it. In addition, if we hold down the option from Activity Launcher we can create a shortcut to access it from the desktop at any time.

    1. Open the Activity Launcher. Search for Second Space (again) Now there will be several options infront of you. Each one will have a different name (in the small text). Open one by one. Again one of the option will open a page that will say "Launch Second Space" At that page, look on top right option, there will be option to delete Second Space. When you will click delete second space, it will require your Xiaomi Account Password (if you have that signed in).

  18. Install the "Parallel Space" app from the Google Play Store or Xiaomi's app store.
Open the app and grant the necessary permissions it requires to function properly.
Tap on the "Start" button to create a clone of your existing apps and data.
Select the apps you want to duplicate and tap on the "Add to Parallel Space" button.
Wait for the app to finish cloning the selected apps.
Once the cloning process is complete, you will find the duplicated apps within the Parallel Space app.
Launch the cloned apps from within Parallel Space to access them in a separate space.

  21. Worked fine on my Mi M5S on MIUI 14.0.2 with activity launcher from adam szalkowski on play store (grey icon with a white rocket and a gear).
Activate second space and Dual app with the option that has "setting" in the name, as it's not anymore the same names as in this article.
Create a shortcut with the 3 dots at the top so you can access Dual app settings and second space switch easily.
In the activity launcher, you can find second space and dual app options to modify password and delete. It works, it's just a bit more of a hassle but well worth it -to me. It's the main reason I buy Xiaomi phones, even if I have the "parallel" app that does the same but is slower.

  24. Here are the steps to activate the second space on your Xiaomi phone if the option is not available:

Open the Settings app on your Xiaomi phone.
Scroll down and tap on "Additional settings" or "Special features".
Now search for and tap on "Second space". If you don't see this option, it means your Xiaomi variant likely does not have second space built-in.
If Second Space is not available in your settings, you will need to download and install a separate Second Space app from the Play Store. Some options to try:
Parallel Space - create a separate encrypted user profile
Dual Space - use two accounts for the same app
Multi Accounts - run multiple separated accounts
Install any one of these apps from Play Store. Open the installed app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your second space, add apps to it and switch between spaces.

Going forward, use the Second Space app's interface to access your second, private environment when required without impacting your original space.

So in summary, if your Xiaomi phone does not natively support Second Space, installing a third-party alternative app from Play Store is the easiest way to get a separate user profile for privacy.

  28. Regretfully, devices such as the Redmi Note 10 do not include this feature. The same is true for various Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO entry-level and mid-range terminals. This feature is absent from the list of MIUI choices when we open the Settings.

Even yet, there is a small workaround that lets us use the Second Space feature even if your Xiaomi phone lacks it. This allows us to open up a second area in any Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO device without any limitations.
