Samsung has 96 percent market share in foldable smartphones
Samsung dominates the foldable smartphone market. It can be said that it almost has a monopoly. Because with a 96 percent market share, it can be said that almost all foldables sold have a Samsung logo. One reason for this dominance is of course the ban on Huawei.
In the fourth quarter of 2021, Samsung already had a 96 percent market share in foldable smartphones. Manufacturers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Motorola or even Honor and Oppo do not actually play a role in this segment.
Samsung sold 4.1 million foldable smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2021. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G had a market share of 59 percent, making it the most popular foldable. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G followed in second place with a market share of 35 percent.
Even though Oppo and Xiaomi, and to a lesser extent Huawei, have exciting models, they don't seem to arouse much interest among customers. Let's see how it goes when Google enters the foldable smartphone market.
