Samsung Galaxy Watch 5: First information about the upcoming smartwatch
The Galaxy Watch 5 is expected to be Samsung's next smartwatch. Rumors and leaks about the wearable have been few and far between, but a report may have just revealed the launch schedule and a brand new feature.
According to ETNews, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will have a thermometer function that will allow you to measure your body temperature. The feature aims to detect early signs of COVID-19. It could also be used to monitor other infections and ovulation.
Samsung has reportedly developed technology that can accurately measure body temperature without being affected by external factors such as direct sunlight or physical exertion.
It is also claimed that the smartwatch will be launched in August this year. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch 4 around the same time last year, so the timeline isn't too surprising.
The report goes on to say that Samsung also wants to integrate the thermometer function into the next Galaxy Buds. The company appears to be using technology that can detect infrared wavelengths emanating from the eardrum to measure temperature.
