Samsung Galaxy S23: The Galaxy S22 successor could look so unusual

Samsung has just launched the Galaxy S22 smartphones, when the first information about the successors is already emerging. The first pictures now show what the Galaxy S23 smartphones could look like. Samsung would have to rely on a technology that is not yet considered mature.

Samsung Galaxy S23: This is what it could look like

With the Galaxy S21, Samsung introduced a new design language for its smartphones, which was only minimally changed with the Galaxy S22. The new smartphones are a bit more angular and much higher quality, as I noticed in the Galaxy S22 Plus review. But what could the successors look like? Well-informed insider Ice universe has shared some images, which he captioned "Galaxy S23". You can basically see the Galaxy S22 smartphones with one important change:

As with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (for testing), Samsung could use an under-display camera for the Galaxy S23 generation, which should be invisibly built into the display . At the front you would only have the display without interruptions from holes or notches. In combination with the thin frames around the screen, this would create an unusual look. At least from the front, you would no longer be able to tell where the top and bottom are.

According to the current status, the above-mentioned under-display camera from Samsung is not yet good enough to be used in such important smartphones as the Galaxy S23 series. If this smartphone takes bad selfies, that would already be a strong disadvantage. With the folding cell phone, only the inner camera is affected. If necessary, you can still use the outer camera for selfies. That would not work with a classic cell phone.

We took a close look at the Samsung Galaxy S22 smartphones:

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will lead the way

It all arguably depends on how good the Galaxy Z Fold 4's under-display camera gets. If Samsung can boost the quality a lot and make the camera truly invisible, there's a good chance the technology could be used in the Galaxy S23 series. Otherwise, the company will probably stick to the punch-hole design familiar from the current generation.
