Huawei Nova 9 SE becomes the manufacturer s first smartphone with a 108 MP camera
It's hard to believe that Huawei hasn't launched a phone with a 108 MP camera yet. The company has prioritized sensor size over resolution on its flagships. 108MP sensors are helpful when the phone only has digital zoom, and such sensors were a good choice for mid-range devices.
That brings us to the leaked information about the Huawei nova 9 SE, which is said to be Huawei's first phone with a 108 MP camera. WinFuture reports that the phone will cost between 250 and 280 euros. There are already some phones with 108 MP cameras on the European market for under 300 euros, but competition is always good.
Huawei has struggled with sourcing chips, especially chips with 5G connectivity, so it should come as no surprise that the Huawei Nova 9 SE is a 4G-only phone. The Snapdragon 665 comes as a surprise though, as this 11nm chipset was announced in early 2019, making it three years old. The Snapdragon 680 is a newer 4G chip based on a 6nm process, but presumably that would have made the phone too expensive.
Possible Huawei Nova 9 SE specifications
Anyway, the Huawei Nova 9 SE is said to come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, plus a microSD slot. It will run on Android 11 with EMUI 12 and will not have access to Google Play Services. The 108 MP main module is complemented by an 8 MP ultra wide-angle camera and two 2 MP helper cameras (macro and depth). The 16 MP selfie camera is housed in a recess in the display.
Huawei has opted for a fairly large 6.78″ LCD display with a resolution of 2,388 x 1,080 pixels (19.9:9 aspect ratio). There is no evidence of a high refresh rate. The phone will also offer a 4,000 mAh battery with fast charging (capacity unknown), a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button and NFC.
It is not yet clear when Huawei will officially launch the Nova 9 SE.
