Oppo Find X5 Pro presented: luxury ceramic phone with Hasselblad camera

With the Find X5 Pro, Find X5 and Find X5 Lite, Oppo presented three new smartphones today. The Oppo Find X5 Pro is particularly interesting because it is a real luxury smartphone with special features, but they also have their price.

Oppo Find X5 Pro: Luxury cell phone for 1,299 euros

If a smartphone costs more than a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra or iPhone 13 Pro Max, then it has to offer something. The Oppo Find X5 Pro actually has a lot to offer. First there is the design. The back is made of ceramic , which is not only very robust, but also protected against scratches. It takes a process of 168 hours to make the back like this. The camera hump is beautifully embedded. This time slightly slanted so that the smartphone is more comfortable in the hand.

The Oppo Find X5 Pro has a modern LTPO AMOLED display on the front, which has a WQHD+ resolution and works at 1 to 120 Hz. There is also a maximum brightness of up to 1,300 nits. The display with 10-bit colors and HDR10+ should be particularly good. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The battery measures 5,000 mAh and can be quickly charged with a cable with 80 watts and wirelessly with 50 watts. But there is no UWB, for example, which will become interesting in the future

Another highlight is definitely the camera on the back. Two equivalent 50 MP sensors are used . The main camera has a 5-axis image stabilizer, so photos and videos always remain stable. There is also a telephoto lens with 13 MP. Oppo relies on its own image processor, which should improve the quality in many places. There is also a cooperation with Hasselblad for so-called "Master Styles". So you can take photos in certain styles. The camera app has been expanded accordingly with these functions.

Nothing was said about the software at the event we attended beforehand. That was one of the biggest sticking points with the Oppo Find X3 Pro (for testing). The Oppo Find X5 Pro runs Android 12 and ColorOS 12.1. We'll have to see if the software has improved. After all: There are more updates . Oppo promises three new versions of Android and four years of security updates. The market launch is scheduled for March 21, 2022. There is only one version for 1,299 euros.

Oppo Find X5 Lite

Oppo not only covers the upper class, but also the middle class with the Find X5 Lite. It is a smartphone with a 6.43-inch display with FHD+ resolution and works at 90 Hz. At a price of 499 euros, you can definitely expect a little more . Xiaomi and Samsung rely on 120 Hz displays. The processor is the Mediatek Dimensity 900, plus 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded if necessary. A 64 MP sensor is used as the main camera, which is supported by an 8 MP ultra wide angle.

You have to make compromises when it comes to the software. Although this is not a cheap mid-range phone of the latest generation, you only get Android 11 as the operating system. That's a shame, because you have to hope that there will be an update to Android 12 for the Oppo Find X5 Lite at some point.
