Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro: First details are making the rounds
The Google Pixel 6 series made a lot of headlines last year. With both models, Google went a new way for the first time, in terms of design and equipment. For example, for the first time they used their own processor called Google Tensor and finally also new camera hardware. And now the successor is announced.
Now we can take a first look at the details of the Google Pixel 7 series. If Google will call the two smartphones that. Thanks to some research from 9TO5Google we have an early glimpse of what to expect.
At first glance, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Google will almost certainly use a second-generation Tensor chip. The Tensor 2.0 is said to be in development with the model number GS201 and the internal code name "cloudripper".
Interestingly, it appears that Tensor 2.0 could have a currently unreleased Samsung modem on board. The 2021 Tensor chipset had the Samsung Exynos Modem 5123 on board, but the Tensor 2.0 could have an Exynos Modem 5300.
The Pixel series has always had exciting code names. For a long time, all Pixel phones were related to fish species. Then, for the Pixel 6 series, Google switched to bird-like code names ("Oriole" for the Pixel 6 and "Raven" for the Pixel 6 Pro). It looks like Google could bet on new animal species again for 2022.
According to 9TO5Google, the codenames for the Google Pixel 7 could be "cheetah" and "panther." Obviously, these are allusions to big cats. Interestingly, both cats are quite fast, as the cheetah is the world's fastest land mammal and the panther isn't exactly slow either.
