{Disarmed} How to use shortcuts with Xiaomi buttons
It is an open secret that MIUI is one of the best layers of Android. And it has earned it by hand for its excellent design, but above all, for its good set of features that make life much easier for the user.
But, one of the most outstanding functions is the button shortcuts , a functionality that although it is introduced in Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO mobiles, it is quite unknown by users. And in this post, we show you how it works .
How do button shortcuts work on Xiaomi smartphones?
As you may have imagined, these shortcuts allow you to perform actions, or run certain applications just by pressing the button (or buttons) assigned by default for that purpose. But, with Xiaomi, things go much further .
And it is that, MIUI allows to create and/or modify the buttons of the direct accesses . And it's as simple as going to Settings → Button shortcuts, there we will see up to 8 fully customizable actions, which are:
- run the camera
- take screenshot
- Start Google Assistant
- Disable/Turn off screen
- turn on flashlight
- Close current app
- open split screen
- show menu
The rest is a matter of selecting the action to perform, and assigning it a combination of buttons that you like the most. This ranges from holding down a button or pressing it more times, or pressing two buttons at the same time .
It is even possible to configure a screenshot to be taken by sliding three fingers on the screen at the same time. Of course, there are many more customization options , it's all a matter of trying and configuring each option to your liking.
In addition to this new function that already exists on your phone, yesterday we told you how the Redmi K30S introduced the knuckle gesture function, exclusively for now, but it will surely start to jump to other devices very soon.
The Redmi K30S is the first Xiaomi with knuckle gestures
