Samsung Galaxy S22: Bad surprise with the battery
Shrinking cure at Samsung: A significantly smaller battery is supposed to be used in the Galaxy S22. A minus of a whopping 300 mAh is in the room. Especially with regard to the new iPhone 13 from arch-rival Apple, this decision could backfire.
Longer battery life is always at the top of the wish list of smartphone users. The boardroom at Samsung knows that too, which is why it is all the more incomprehensible that the Galaxy S22 should have a smaller battery on board .
Samsung Galaxy S22 should get a smaller battery
The capacity of the energy cell should be 3,700 mAh - a minus of 300 mAh compared to its predecessor (source: Galaxy Club via SamMobile). A 4,000 mAh battery does its job in this year's Galaxy S21, which, according to our test report, enables a display-on time of 5 to 6 hours.
A shrunk battery in the Galaxy S22 does not necessarily mean that the smartphone has a poorer battery life - after all, optimizations to hardware and software and more energy-efficient components can also compensate for a lot from a reduced mAh capacity. The Galaxy S22 with this battery is unlikely to have a better battery life than its predecessor.
It had previously been announced that Samsung would not install its latest and technically best camera sensor with 50 MP in the Galaxy S22. The new Exynos 2200 chip brings many improvements, but should not be able to beat the processor in the iPhone 12 in terms of performance - not to mention the A15 Bionic in the iPhone 13 (Pro). "It seems that Samsung has made it its business to annoy as many fans as possible with every new Galaxy S", so the harsh judgment of SamMobile.
In the video we clear up well-known battery myths:
Apple shows Samsung how it can be done differently
Arch-rival Apple, of all people, shows how it can be done differently: The new iPhone 13 should have a 2.5-hour longer battery life, the US manufacturer proudly promised at the presentation. The iPhone 13 is the direct competitor of the Galaxy S22. It would be embarrassing for Samsung to be overtaken by Apple in a former prime discipline like battery life.
