Microsoft has released a new version of the Edge browser for Windows, macOS and Android. The desktop version of the browser can finally synchronize extensions. Mobilna has gained Collection service.

The Edge 83 is now available for download - although not everyone will receive the update immediately. Microsoft announced that from version 83 it will make all subsequent versions of its browser available in waves to avoid any mishaps - that is, errors that somehow escaped beta testers. Edge 83 - what's new? The most important new is extension synchronization.

For some reason, Microsoft did not manage to fully implement the synchronization mechanisms in its Edge browser, which did not prevent it from making it available to the public. Fortunately, these deficiencies are successively removed, and Edge 83 can now synchronize browser-installed extensions. This means that every time we launch the browser on a new device, all our extensions will be installed automatically - just log in to your Microsoft or AAD account. This function is of course optional.

This is not the end of new products, although others are slightly less important. The new version of Edge has improved the SmartScreen security mechanism, in particular in terms of protection against malicious sites with redirects and frames. In the browser, you can also add cookies to the white list, which will not be deleted when cleaning the browser. Support for switching between different user profiles has also been improved.

The collection has also been improved - i.e. a function that allows you to save groups of sites and export information contained in them to other applications and services. It is now easier to move elements by drag-and-drop, you can also move elements in groups instead of, so far, only one by one - including all tabs from the active window.

The Edge for Android also has a significant update. Although there is only one new thing.

It is support for the Collections module, which until now was only available in Windows and macOS browsers. Unfortunately, Collections are still not available on iOS and iPadOS, although we hope that this will change soon. Like the desktop version, the Android update is also available in waves - some may receive it in a few days.
