Orange already supports half a million Fiber Optics and almost three times more Orange Love packages

Orange Polska has a reason to be satisfied. Converged packages were chosen by 1.4 million families, and the number of customers choosing Optical Fiber exceeded 0.5 million. This translates into satisfactory financial results.

In the last calendar quarter of 2019, the operator acquired 47,000 new customers for your optical fiber. This value in a vacuum does not make such an impression, but winning a total of 520 thousand. customers paying for fixed-line internet in this technology and breaking the half-million barrier - yes.

A larger increase in terms of volume can be seen in the case of customers for mobile services, including subscriptions for voice offers. There are now about 76 thousand more than three months ago. Converged services, i.e. the Orange Love tariff, are also popular. Currently, they are selected by 1.37 million families.

Orange Polska's revenues have increased for the first time in 13 years due to these and other successes on an annual basis.

The operator ended 2019 with a result of 3% better than last year. The EBITDAal ratio is also rising and this is the second year in a row - this time by 7 percent. Every year. Orange predicts that this trend will continue and will be able to show similar successes at the beginning of 2021. due to changes in the industry.

The devastating price war has come to an end, which Jean-Francois Fallacher, President of Orange Polska, describes with signs of "repairing the mobile telephony market" by "competing more on quality than just the price of services." Customers are not comforted, because subscriptions are more expensive today than just a few years ago.

Orange now adheres to the "more for more" philosophy.

The operator argues that as prices increase, it offers its clients better and better services. Orange analyzes show that this approach has been positively received by customers. The proof of this is the acquisition of a greater number of users of subscription voice services than in 2018.

In addition to strictly mobile services, Orange attaches great importance to optical fiber, and 520 thousand. its users are 20 percent. all broadband customers, of whom there are already 2.6 million It is worth adding that 62 percent among Orange home internet subscribers with the full service package. A year ago there were fewer, i.e. 57 percent

In the case of voice services, every second subscriber bought another service, when 46 percent decided to do so a year ago. of them.

Orange Love converged tariffs gained 133,000 new users during the year. This increase, which allowed Orange to reach the ceiling of 1.37 million families using combined offers in 2019, is also larger than a year ago - in this case by as much as 11 percent.

In turn, fiber in 2019 gained 42 percent more customers than a year ago, which translated into an increase of 154,000 (of which 47,000 in the last quarter alone). Orange TV is also doing well. Within 12 months, it gained 51 thousand. subscribers, finishing from 994 thousand customers.

And it is Orange TV subscribers who most often choose Orange Love packages, because it happens in as much as 83 percent. cases

The orange operator spent as much as PLN 2.5 million from 2016 to 2019 on fiber optic network development. Only last year, as much as PLN 720 million, or 1/3 of all investment outlays, was added to this pool. The costs incurred will pay off for years, but measurable effects are already visible.

Orange fiber range already has as many as 4.2 million different apartments, houses and small businesses throughout the country, both in cities and outside of them. However, Telekom does not intend to slow down and by the end of 2020 this number is to increase to 5 million households.

Optical fiber is a complement and not a competition for mobile services.

The growth in the area of ​​subscription customers of mobile services in 2019 is 315,000. The result is 3.2 percent. better on an annual basis. The last quarter was very successful for the operator in this respect, in which 109,000 were obtained in this segment. Orange boasts that this is the best result of the last two years.

A bit worse news for the operator is that not only the number of customers is increasing, but also the consumption of data. On average, subscribers use 3.6 GB of data transfer per month, and the increase in the perspective of two years compared to 2017 is almost twofold.

To meet customer expectations, Orange is constantly developing its network. At the end of 2019, as many as 8,900 base stations supported band aggregation. Two years earlier, when mobile internet consumption was more or less twice as low, the operator had only 3,900 such stations.

All this translates into the positive financial results of Orange Polska for 2019.

The average revenue from the offer (determined by the ARPO parameter) for mobile subscription services purchased outside the package is lower, but in 2018 it was 10.1 percent. Every year. This decrease was reduced to 5.6 per cent a year later. in annual terms, and in the fourth quarter of 2019 alone it amounted to 3.6 percent.

Despite the lack of growth in this area, Orange has managed to achieve a historic 2.9 percent increase in revenues for the first time in 13 years. The operator sees the improvement of results in the convergence of services. Orange Love packages have increased their revenues during the year by 20 percent.

In addition, the telecom is happy with its revenues from IT and integration services. It showed a 30% improvement here. year to year, of which 16 percent it's "organic growth". The remainder consists of the BlueSoft result and revenues from the sale of equipment (11 percent better than a year ago) year on year.

At about 7 percent higher year-on-year EBITDAaL result consist of an improvement in direct margin, cost reduction of 7% (by as much as 11% in the fourth quarter of 2019) and proceeds from the sale of real estate. Even without the latter, the result would remain at a good 4.5 percent.
