In the world of smartphones, the premiere of the new Samsung Galaxy S is an event comparable only to the premiere of the new iPhone. Those who hunt for a smartphone from the absolute highest shelf usually reach for one or the other.

The new Samsung hit the market in three variants: the smallest Galaxy S20, a slightly larger Galaxy S20 +, and the largest and equipped with a camera with the greatest capabilities Galaxy S20 Ultra.

What is the difference? What connects them? Which one should you choose? Let's try to answer these questions now.

There is something to think about, what to consider. Let's check which smartphone to choose.

Let's start with two "normal" models of the new Samsung Galaxy.

The differences between these two models are really trace. The Galaxy S20 + has a screen that is half an inch bigger, a battery 500 mAh larger and one additional camera eye, hiding the depth sensor, supporting blur the background in portrait mode. We can also buy it in a variant with more memory for data.

And although abroad, all new Galaxy models will be equipped with a 5G modem, in Poland we will only find modern connectivity in the larger Galaxy S20 + and in a slightly more expensive 5G version. So if someone wants to be able to use 5G today, or be able to do it in a year / two, when its range in Poland increases, Galaxy S20 + is the only way in this comparison.

In addition, both phones combine all other elements of the specification. Both have the same processor, both are equally well made, both have equally beautiful screens with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

Samsung Galaxy S20 has an undoubted advantage in the form of its compact size, which will certainly appeal to those who will change to the new "es-twenty" from the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S9. The small S20 is fantastic in the palm of your hand and when it comes to purely functional values, it is the best choice among all three.

This does not mean, however, that the larger S20 + is bulky. With such slim frames, the 6.7 "screen doesn't make the phone bigger than most modern smartphones. And in exchange for a slightly larger size we get a much larger battery and the ability to buy a smartphone with 512 GB of data space.

If I had to choose between these two, I would definitely bet on the Samsung Galaxy S20 +. Because despite the fact that the smaller S20 is much better in the hand, a larger battery and a larger working space tilt the balance in favor of the larger S20 +.

The differences between the two largest Galaxy are starting to get big.

First of all, the larger Galaxy S20 Ultra has a completely different camera layout from the rest of the rate, including a 108-megapixel main sensor and a 100x digital zoom, which you won't find in the two smaller variants.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra also has a much larger battery, it offers even more memory and data space, as well as more screen space.

What's more, the Galaxy S20 Ultra will only be available with a 5G modem.

Are these, however, sufficient arguments to convince consumers to spend over PLN 1000 more on the largest variant of the new Galaxy? In my opinion no.

Just as the Galaxy S20 + is within the limits of convenience, the Galaxy S20 Ultra will simply be too big for most people. Let's not get it wrong - in practice, the S20 Ultra is not much bigger than Note 10, but it is enough for many potential buyers to cross it out for the sake of its size.

For some, an important argument may also be the fact that the Galaxy S20 Ultra will be available only in two colors: black and gray. And although I personally think of new gray as the prettiest color in the whole range, I know that many people want a phone in slightly more vivid colors.

As for the differences in the camera, here my grandmother for two promised. On the one hand, we have the main camera with a resolution of 108 Mpix, which thanks to nanocell technology can also take pictures in a resolution of 12 Mpix with higher detail and with a much better night mode than before. We still have to wait for a full camera comparison in all models, but it can be assumed that a larger sensor in the largest Galaxy will have an advantage over the sensors in the "ordinary" S20 and S20 +.

On the other hand, we have a 100x zoom, which, although it may tempt with its marketing overtones, is completely useless in practice. Pictures taken above 10x zoom look terrible and are not suitable for showing them to anyone. At most, they will be useful for watching the neighbors. Similarly, 8K video recording is a show of strength, not a useful function. To think about recording in 8K on your phone you need devices with much more built-in memory and much better cooling; we all remember how the phones behaved when they first received 4K video recording and probably the same stories with overheating await us at the first 8K implementations.

We don't know yet how important the difference in battery capacity will be. 5000 mAh sounds proud, just like fast charging with 45 W, but remember that these 5000 mAh will have to drive a much larger screen and cameras with a much higher resolution than in the two smaller models.

So it may turn out that the increase in mAh will not translate into longer working time, or at least it will not be as long as we would expect.

Personally, I have no doubt that the overall choice will be the middle model - Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus and without a 5G modem.

5G on the Vistula, despite the noisy announcements of operators, is still a song of the distant future. Not the future of two or three years, but at least five years. So the future, which the new S20 will most likely not see. So if you plan to use the smartphone mainly in our country and live outside the areas that will be soon connected to the 5G test , there is nothing to bother with a smartphone with this type of communication.

Galaxy S20 + or Galaxy S20 Ultra - which model should you choose?

The Samsung Galaxy S20 should reach those consumers who are looking for a handy smartphone without compromise. Thanks to even slender frames than last year's Galaxy S10, the small S20 has dimensions only marginally larger than the super-handy Galaxy S10e, which had a 5.8 "screen after all. Here we have a screen up to 6.2 "and an extremely comfortable phone, without any compromise in quality.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra is a proposal for two types of people: those who are looking for the best camera in a smartphone and those who simply can afford it.

The largest of Samsung's new smartphones is an engineering masterpiece, mobile photography mastery, a phone that has everything "the best". But it also costs "the most" and its price will not be swallowed for many consumers.

However, it cannot be hidden that the Galaxy S20 Ultra, even at a price of PLN 5999 remains a more profitable purchase than the iPhone 11 Pro Max with 256 GB of data space, which costs even more.
