Sigma showed her first lenses designed for professional mirrorless cameras. It is great
Sigma is spreading more and more on the market of mirrorless lenses. The premiere of three models took place, which are the first lenses designed especially for full-frame mirrorless cameras.
Sigma has my incredible respect for the powerful transformation it has undergone over the years. From the manufacturer of cheap, plastic and average optically lenses, the company has evolved into a synonym of the highest quality. Today, Sigma lenses are so good that they often become the reference point for Sony, Canon, or Nikon native glasses. Generally, Sigmas are much cheaper than native lenses.
It might seem that Sigma has been present in the full-frame mirrorless range for a long time, but the company has only had one leg there. All previous lenses were really reworked versions of SLR lenses. This was connected with the unnecessary enlargement of the dimensions of already very large glasses.
The APS-C segment shows how small good lenses designed for mirrorless cameras can be. Sigma can boast a capital trio with f / 1.4 light and 16, 30 and 56 mm focal lengths. However, these are structures designed for smaller dies.
Now is the time for a new stage: the first lenses designed for the bayonet Sony FE and Panasonic / Leica L.
The first novelty is Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN
The lens has 11 circular aperture blades, and the optical structure consists of 18 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical lenses. The design of the front lens prevents the winding of traditional filters, but with the bayonet part there is a holder for gel filters, mounted from the inside. The lens is sealed and weighs 795 g.
The equipment will go to store shelves in August at PLN 6490. There are not many rivals on the mirrorless market, but if we pay a price to the SLR market, it is very competitive.
The second novelty is very bright Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG DN
The focal length of 35 mm and the light f / 1.2 sound like a perfect connection. There are not so many bright lenses on the market. The size resembles 35 mm constructions with f / 1.4 light, but the weight for many will be a deterrent, because the lens weighs almost 1.1 kg.
The design of the lens is 17 elements in 12 groups, and the minimum focusing distance is 30 cm. The filter diameter is 82 mm, which is really a lot. The equipment will go to store shelves in August at PLN 6490. In the case of f / 1.2 lens this is a very reasonable valuation, the more so - according to Sigma assurances - we can expect the highest quality of imaging and great sharpness. I believe them.
The last lens is a miniature Sigma 45mm F2.8 DG DN
The racial-looking lens is distinguished by a universal focal length lying between 35 and 50 mm standards. The f / 2.8 light does not spoil, but in return we get a very miniature size. The lens is also extremely light, because it weighs only 215 g.
A great addition is the ring of diaphragms on the casing. The aperture itself has 7 rounded edges and can be closed down to f / 22. The minimum distance of sharpening is 24 cm, and the maximum scale of reproduction is 1: 4.
Unfortunately, the lens was priced in an unintelligible way. Sigma wishes for him as much as PLN 2390, which is really hard to justify at a fixed focal length with f / 2.8 light. The lens will go to stores in July 2019.
