The CD-ROM repeated the diskette history quickly. I remember today when I bought Myst III: Exile came to me on four CDs, which seemed like a cosmic amount of space.

The period of games on DVDs was similar. Initially, all the titles were on one medium, but the story quickly wheeled around. GTA V in the PC version was released on seven DVDs. The game after installation was over 65 GB.
