How many games will the Samsung Galaxy S10 + Performance Edition fit? We check in # 1TBChallenge

Galaxy S10 + as a portable gaming console? Why not! Let's see how many titles will fit in the memory of this device.

My first computer was the Amiga 600. I will never forget the big keyboard and the red joystick, with which there were always problems. It was the mid-90s, and I, as a toddler, did not really understand what to do on the computer other than playing games. A cavernous, key-locked box for floppy disks contained a dozen or so games and ... not a single application program.

There were plenty of games that fit on a single 3.5-inch floppy disk with a capacity of 1.44 MB. In my collection, the best titles were occupied by four or even five diskettes, but the child's imagination was the most bursting for hearing-only titles. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge has become legendary when we learned that it takes 11 floppy disks in the yard. It was difficult to imagine the quality and size of the game that followed such a huge size.

Freshly after the turn of the millennium, the first PC appeared in the house, and with it a new quality of gaming. The easiest way to get the games was from the computer press to which the CDs were attached. On one of them could be several full versions of games, but it did not last long. The CD-ROM repeated the diskette history quickly. I remember today when I bought Myst III: Exile came to me on four CDs, which seemed like a cosmic amount of space.

The period of games on DVDs was similar. Initially, all the titles were on one medium, but the story quickly wheeled around. GTA V in the PC version was released on seven DVDs. The game after installation was over 65 GB.

Video games have become so large that the era of media is coming to an end.

Today, games for consoles are sold on Blu-Ray discs and once again fit on one disc. However, the BR boards missed the PCs because they were too big niches in this segment. Instead of switching to a new media standard, game producers have switched to digital distribution. Today, even buying a boxed version of the game, we often get a CD in the middle, but a key to download the title.

Nothing strange. New AAA class titles rarely occupy less than 50 GB. Call of Duty Infinite Warfare occupies 95 GB, Battlefield 4 Premium Edition - 71 GB, GTAV - 66 GB, and spent on the Red Dead Redemption 2 console requires up to 105 GB of disk space. In these times it is difficult to be a player without a fiber optic link. Well, unless we bet on mobile gaming.

Playing today is also smartphones.

Smartphones from year to year are becoming better and better gaming machines. After all, they have all the necessary components: large screens, powerful computing power and at the same time unrivaled mobility, because we always have a smartphone with us.

Mobile games come from the era of simple arcade titles. If you want to delve into the AAA title on your smartphone, today you can do it. An enormous hit of recent years is the battle royal mode in which it fights to the last surviving player in the arena. The two biggest games of this type: PUBG and Fortnite, are available on Android. In both cases, up to 100 people can play on one map at a time.

I tried to fill the Galaxy S10 + Performance Edition with top games and ... I could not.

As part of the # 1 TBChallenge series , I am gradually filling up the memory on my Samsung Galaxy S10 + Performance Edition smartphone. This beauty with ceramic backs conceals 12 GB of RAM and as much as 1 TB of built-in memory for data. Interestingly, 1 TB is exactly twice as much space as in my stationary console.

Meanwhile, the largest mobile games now weigh over 4 GB. For example, Fortnite in the Galaxy S10 + version occupies 4.20 GB, but it does not mean that it is a record holder. The biggest game in the Google Play store is Resident Evil 5, which takes up 5.5 GB.

Some of the biggest Android games are:

  • Resident Evil 5 - 5.5 GB,
  • Fortnite version for Samsung Galaxy S10 + - 4.2 GB,
  • Republique - 3.6 GB,
  • XCOM: Enemy Within - 3.1 GB,
  • GTA San Andreas - 2.4 GB,
  • PUBG - 2.04 GB.

The size of the games is steadily growing. Assuming that today's top titles have an average of 3 GB, the Galaxy S10 + Performance Edition will fit (note) over 300 games! We're talking about mobile titles from the top shelf.

Currently, the Google Play store does not even have such a large stock of games with such a large volume. This means that you can install ... all top games from Google Play in the Galaxy S10 + Performance Edition.

And how do you actually play Galaxy S10 + Performance Edition?

Samsung Galaxy S10 + is one of the fastest smartphones on the market in the base version, so it should not be surprising that the Performance Edition variant does not have the slightest performance problems. The Exynos 9820 processor combined with 12 GB RAM and 1 TB internal memory is a connection for which there are not too strong games and applications. The performance can be proved by the fact that even incredibly resource-consuming Antutu tests run smoothly.

The screen is equally important in games, and in this respect the Samsung Galaxy S10 + Performance Edition is - according to independent measurements - the best choice on the mobile market.

The huge Dynamic AMOLED panel has a diagonal of 6.4 inches and a resolution of 3040 x 1440 pixels. We have a record brightness of 1215 rivets and HDR10 + support, which looks great not only in movies, but also in games.

An inherent element of the screen is the opening for the front camera. Some games are displayed by default in such a way that it creates a black band covering the camera. Personally, I prefer the option of extending the screen to the entire front, but thankfully One UI allows you to define how we want to display individual applications. For each application, we can enforce the full-screen display mode.

The One UI software includes Game Launcher, which is a gaming hub where you can find all installed titles. We can also define how games should behave: whether to squeeze the maximum performance from the smartphone, save the battery, or operate in a balanced mode. Settings can be selected for all games together or for each title separately.

For this, being in the game, we can use the Game Tools bar. In a special overlay, you can choose how you receive notifications, energy saving, screen lock, full screen display.

To sum up, 1TB of memory in the Galaxy S10 + Performance Edition allows you to play without any restrictions. The Google Play store does not have as many top-shelf games to fill up your smartphone's memory. Such a large capacity is enough for even the most demanding people for many years.
