The premiere of OnePlusa 7 Pro is behind us . The smartphone impresses not only with performance, but also with the camera, which is a big surprise. In the DxO ranking, the OnePlusa 7 Pro took third place.

The OnePlus 7 Pro draws your attention with the front camera that slides out of the case, but the main camera is the real star. We find there a system of three photographic modules working in the following configuration:

  • main 48 megapixel camera, f / 1.6 with optical stabilization,
  • wide angle 117 degrees, 16 megapixels, f / 2.2,
  • a telephoto lens with x3.8 megapixels, f / 2.4 with optical stabilization.

The most interesting is the main camera, which uses a Sony IMX586 sensor, well-known from the construction such as Oppo Reno, Xiaomi Mi9, or Honor View 20. The transmitter has a diagonal of the size of up to 1/2 inch, which gives an area of ​​29 percent. larger than the 1 / 2.6 inch matrix known from OnePlus 6T. The Quad Bayer matrix has been designed to operate in 2x2 mode (i.e. combining four pixels into one), so that in the default mode the photos have 12 megapixels. However, you can force a full 48 MP.

OnePlus 7 Pro performed sensational in the DxO test

The smartphone received a score of 111 points , thanks to which it took third place in the ranking and at the same time overtook such mobile market players like Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Huawei P20 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. For the sake of completeness, I would like to add that OnePlus was also ahead of the iPhone XS Max, but this is not a big feat.

The leaders of the ranking are Huawei P30 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10 5G.

DxO testers praise the perfect reproduction of colors and white balance, as well as a very good level of detail reproduction in photos taken outside. There is also a comfortable zoom and nice bokeh in portrait mode. By default, DxO does not test wide angle lens, which is invariably a farce.

The video gives good results and ensures efficient stabilization, but at the details level you can see strong aliasing and differences in sharpening between successive frames of the film. In turn, the front webcam is just fine.

This is another example of the fact that a smartphone with a good camera does not have to be extremely expensive.

Apple, Samsung and Huawei have accustomed us to the fact that the top specification - and also for the top camera - you really have to pay a lot. Here are the prices of top smartphones at the time of launch:

  • iPhone XS Max: $ 1099 (PLN 5479),
  • Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus: $ 999 (PLN 4399),
  • Huawei P30 Pro: 899 pounds (3799 PLN).

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7 Pro has been priced in the base variant at $ 669. The European price is 719 euros, which gives 3100 zlotys. Much? Two years ago, we would say yes. In the current market reality, however, this is not a high price for a top smartphone just after the market debut.

OnePlus has always been well priced in relation to the parameters, but they always had cameras slightly worse than the competition. This time the quality of photos goes head to head with the best. This is a very good decision of OnePlus.

It is also worth reminding that we have an example going even further, namely Google Pixel 3a costing about 1500 PLN and equipped with an absolutely top camera, although only with one lens.

For now, it's hard to talk about the trend yet, but I really hope that in the end we will have a time when every mid-range smartphone will offer great quality photos. Especially in times when top smartphone models often exceed the level of over 4,000. zł.
