Canadians will introduce droughts with lower THC concentrations to Poland

Medical marijuana in Poland is available through the supply of the Canadian company Spectrum Cannabis. You announce the introduction of two new varieties in the second half of the year. In a few weeks, the application for registration of dried fruit with a different THC concentration will be ready.

More than a year has passed since the adoption of the relevant regulations for the actual admission of medical marijuana in Poland. The drought imported from Germany was available at the end of last year only in three pharmacies: in Poznań, Konin and Wrocław. In total, 7 kg of this pharmaceutical was available in the first plan. But it was enough for about 300 patients and only a few days and nothing was left of these supplies.

Too high THC concentration?

According to some medical marijuana brought to Polish pharmacies so quickly disappeared from the shelves because it was more like a recreational version than the one to help our health. All because of the concentration of THC - the main psychoactive substance contained in hemp. The one drought imported by Canadians is at the level of 19 percent. Meanwhile, the concentration of cannabinoid CBD - whose positive effect on the human body has been proven by many studies - is less than 1 percent.

Representatives of Spectrum Cannabis, a member of the Canadian capital group Canopy Growth Corp, consider these allegations unfounded. In their opinion, drought with such parameters has the widest possible spectrum of action and is suitable for treating the pain of all origins. Canadians argue that such a drought proved to be excellent on the German market.

Medical marijuana in a new variety

Although droughts from 19 percent THC is a good solution according to Canadians, they will be asked to register a product with a different concentration within a few weeks: 10 per cent. THC and 9 percent CBD. In total, Spectrum Cannabis wants at the end of the year in Polish pharmacies to have two new types of medical marijuana.

One is for patients with multiple sclerosis, and the other one for side effects of chemo and radiotherapy - explains Tomasz Witkowski, manager for Poland in Spectrum Cannabis.

Not from Germany anymore, from Denmark

Until now, medical marijuana was imported into Poland from Germany by Canadians. This is about to change. Spectrum Cannabis wants to start using its plantations in Denmark and bring dried to our pharmacies from there.

In Poland only with red

Canadians from medical marijuana have been using since 2001. Last year, recreational use was also legalized. It is hardly surprising that they have considerable experience in the sale of dried fruit. This translates into even the easy and understandable marking of your products. Spectrum Cannabis uses for this purpose colors that correspond to such, and not different concentrations of THC and CBD.

And so: purple, red and orange mean higher THC concentration. On the other hand, green and blue are a mixture, and yellow - a higher concentration of CBD. In Poland, for now, we can find packages with only red color.

It all depends on the doctor

It is already known that the regulations regarding medical marijuana in Poland must change. And not even too high, according to many THC levels, it's all about. It is more in the lack of monitoring of dried fruit or an ordinary leaflet informing not only about dosing or diseases, at which it can be used, but also about possible side effects.

It was left to the doctors. Therefore, it is them who have a great responsibility, who will receive such a product and in what concentration - Michał Kidawa from the National Bureau for Drug Prevention considers this solution not the best.
