Optical fiber in Orange accelerates to 5 Gbps!
Providers of fixed internet in Poland are constantly improving their offer. Orange has started a pilot of optical fiber acceleration for companies to the level of 5 Gbps.
Polish operators have decided to significantly accelerate their fiber connections this year. It was only in August this year that offers for 1Gbps internet enabled its clients to sign the Orange and UPC agreements. In October, Inea announced during PGA 2018 that it is introducing a symmetrical 10 Gbps fixed line for individual customers in Poznań to the offer.
Orange, in turn, will now offer 5Gbps internet in Warsaw.
It is worth noting that this is an unbalanced link. Customers will be able to download data at 5 Gbps, and the maximum upload speed is 1 Gbps. The service, at least during the pilot, will be intended only for small and medium-sized companies.
In addition to the link that allows you to download data at 5 Gbps, the Orange offer will include a symmetrical 2 Gbps fiber. Both offers - 5/1 Gbps and 2/2 Gbps optical fiber - will operate thanks to XGS-PON technology.
It is also not the level that Inea has achieved in Wielkopolska, but Warsaw's clients have nothing to complain about either. It's still stunning speeds, as for Polish conditions. A few years ago, we could have dreamed about such links in the capital.
Orange directs its offer to companies for a reason.
According to the operator, the optical fiber allowing to download 30 GB of data in less than a minute will be useful in organizations "using cloud computing, transferring large amounts of data or maintaining websites on their own servers".
The company also provides additional services for customers as part of the pilot program. Companies that decide to install a new fiber optic connection with a higher bandwidth than before will receive support from a "specialized technical team". They can also get a permanent public IP address.
The Internet will distribute the SDU device with 5 Ethernet slots, including one 10GE. On his equipment there was also a Firewall, Wi-Fi operating in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band and built-in ONT.
The pilot will last half a year, and after that time for the service, regardless of the version - 5/1 Gbps or 2/2 Gbps - you will need to pay 299 PLN + VAT. 100 companies from Warsaw were within reach. Next year Orange plans to expand the availability of this offer.
