Arkham is one of the best action game series today. Unfortunately, instead of new Batman adventures, we will get a co-op Gotham Knights: a title with experience levels, an online lobby and repeatable missions. However, the Dark Knight has not been found.

Gotham Knights is a project of WB Games Montréal studio: the same studio that created Arkham Origins. The Montreal team is the classic "B team", while the "A team" is Rocksteady, producers Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. This time the developers decided to bite a piece of the cake, which belongs to the cooperative looters in the style of Destiny and Marvel's Avengers.

Gotham Knights is a cooperative online game that can be played solo.

Warner Bros. emphasizes that the title is not another installment from the Arkham universe. Instead, the game presents an alternate story where billionaire Bruce Wayne is allegedly killed. The Court of Owls is most likely behind the murder - an influential sect operating in Gotham for hundreds of years, consisting of the powerful and wealthy representatives of the city.

The Dark Knight's heirloom is taken over by members of his bat-family. Red Hood, Nightwing, Red Robin and Batgirl try to keep order in a city devoid of their most important avenger. A similar thread has appeared in DC comics several times, such as the popular Battle for the Cowl series.

The player chooses between four playable characters with unique skills. Each Gotham Knights mission can be played cooperatively with another person over the network. There would be nothing wrong with that, if not for the mention of experience levels by the developers themselves. As a result, GK orbits dangerously close to games such as Marvel's Avengers, moving away from the climatic prototype of Arkham.

Meanwhile, Arkham City producers are working on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Interactive Suicide Squad will be the continuation of the Arkham series and at the same time a new opening of the universe. We will leave Gotham for the first time with a special mission in Metropolis. The Suicide Squad is tasked with eliminating the Justice League, which for some reason has taken the wrong side of the force. The gigantic object visible in the background, stylistically referring to Brainiac, certainly has something to do with it.

Unlike the Arkham games, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gameplay will promote team interaction. One Dark Knight will be converted into four legionnaires, permanently visible on the screen, between which the player can freely switch. Playable characters include Harley Quinn, Kapitan Boomerang, King Shark and Deathstroke. The game will most likely also receive an online module, in which a team of four players will carry out specially prepared multiplayer missions.

What about Batman himself?

Unfortunately, this is not on the horizon. Both Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League omit the Dark Knight. It's a pity, because five years have passed since the premiere of the last installment of Arkham for one player. That's enough to miss the masked billionaire who beats villains in a bat costume, using the capital's combat system from Rocksteady studio.

Fortunately, the new cinema movie promises to be amazing.
