Orange is much more than a telecommunications operator. The company strongly "goes into the cloud"

The cloud can be a breakthrough in the digitization of enterprises. Large investments and cooperation with global giants of the cloud segment show the direction taken by Orange in the business segment.

Orange was louder about the cloud offer in April. The company then established strategic cooperation with Google Cloud. It was another provider of cloud solutions that appeared in the offer of the orange operator - next to, among others Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Service or Oracle. Cooperation with numerous solution providers is the result of adopting the Multi-Cloud Solutions Provider model. This gives Orange and Integrated Solutions (an integration company from the capital group) business clients the opportunity to choose the optimal cloud solution and flexible use of available tools, all with one business partner.

This form of action can accelerate the migration of Polish companies to the cloud, and this is not the best in our region. Central and Eastern Europe is only at the beginning of the road in implementing cloud solutions. Only 11% use it. domestic enterprises compared to 65 percent companies e.g. in Finland.

The cloud for companies is growing at a rate of 30 percent.

However, IDC predicts that the cloud market in Poland will be worth around $ 593.5 million as early as 2022. This means doubling its size in 3 years.

There is nothing surprising. Cloud computing has a number of advantages. It's mobility and convenience of access from any place connected to the internet, which significantly speeds up work on projects. It also saves, because resources can be quickly scaled depending on the needs. If you connect additional users to the cloud, you can easily buy new computing power. It wasn't that easy before - adding a new machine to the environment involved a long process and required the employment of specialists. In the case of the cloud, it's usually a few clicks.

The cloud also means independence from hardware failure. If we host it ourselves, we must ensure high uptime , i.e. the working time indicator. And the servers and the services running on them may hang, require repair or restart. Responsibility for the availability of services in the case of the cloud lies with the provider himself, and this is a significant benefit for the user.

Cloud cloud is not equal

Some segments are easier to move to the cloud, others are slightly more difficult. It depends, among others on the type of data companies have. Often, business clients decide to keep the most sensitive data in private resources, while moving to the public cloud those that are not critical and generate the most traffic, and thus costs.

That is why Orange also offers a hybrid cloud, i.e. one in which the most critical resources are at the customer's, while the others are in the cloud. The customer can then use the advantages of the public cloud mentioned above, while he controls himself which critical resources he leaves in the local data center. In this respect, the Polish market is specific.

Specific solutions for specific companies

That is why Orange has expanded its IaaS (Integrated Computing) solution, i.e. infrastructure as a service. It is provided from Polish Orange data centers. The operator is the first in Poland to use the latest Vmware tool here - vCloud Director 10. This and other components created by Vmware allow for efficient connection to the global cloud, e.g. Amazon.

What does this mean in practice? It will be easier for companies to connect and manage systems located in different clouds and their own data centers. They will be able to choose a cloud faster suited to the needs of a specific application. Integrated Computing cloud can be a "transfer point", facilitating the migration of an enterprise from its own data center to the global public cloud. Speed is also important. Now building a new virtual environment takes less than 5 minutes.

Orange has also introduced - apart from the subscription - a new payment model, the so-called pay as you go , i.e. billing as per use. This form should be of interest to clients whose cloud needs are irregular and seasonal.

The future of business in the clouds

Orange and Integrated Solutions offer their full range of cloud services - from public, private and hybrid cloud to on-premise or multicloud . Customers do not have to take care of servers, network connections, physical security. They pay only for the resources they actually use,

Given the ongoing digitization, the cloud can work in any industry and in any size company. From the retail industry, where there are clear sales peaks to transport, forwarding or finance. Its popularity will constantly increase, because it allows you to instantly adapt the company to changing market conditions.
