The prototype of the Xbox Series X console captured in the picture. It has no HDMI input

The Xbox Series X was captured in the first picture. We don't have good news for people who would like to connect a decoder to it. There is no trace of the HDMI IN connector in the prototype housing.

Microsoft officially unveiled the Xbox Scarlett console called The Game Awards. Thanks to this, in December last year we learned the official name of the successor to the equipment from the Xbox One line, which is Xbox Series X.

The manufacturer also made available graphics presenting an unusual housing , which is huge only at first glance . In addition, Microsoft revealed some information , including about the next generation console specifications and the new version of the controller.

The big unknown is the set of ports found on the back of the new console from the Xbox family.

It is true that AMD recently shared graphics that showed the back panel of the Xbox Series X, but it quickly turned out that it was only a visualization. A Microsoft partner responsible for processors bought this image on the stock himself for $ 10 .

We thought that we would wait a bit for information about available ports, but apparently the internet broke Microsoft's surprise. A reliable photo of the back of the Xbox Series X prototype has hit the network.

Xbox Series X - what ports does the prototype have?

In the device, whose authenticity is confirmed by thurrot.com , between the vent holes there are successively a charging connector, Ethernet, two USB-A ports and an S / PDIF port. In addition, you can also see the HDMI output. Unfortunately, that's it.

The device also lacks USB-C ports, although this is not a huge problem - it is enough that this modern connector appears in the pads, and then you can connect the dongle or a cable with a USB-A connector to the console. And thanks to that - maybe even a regular disk .

The only thing missing in the Xbox Series X prototype is the HDMI IN connector.

The HDMI IN connector, located in the Xbox One family consoles next to the HDMI OUT port, is an unusual solution. Thanks to this, Microsoft's equipment stands out from the competition and saves people who lack such connectors on the TV.

Although it is pointless to plug another console directly into the Xbox due to delays, but for TV set-top boxes and set-top boxes, input-lag is not a problem. In addition, Windows 10 supports automatic detection of decoders.

Unfortunately, as we suspected , the Xbox Series X will most likely lack the HDMI IN connector, which would receive a signal from e.g. a decoder - at least this is clear from the prototype photo. It is a pity, because it was a Microsoft console differentiator.

Of course, remember that a prototype appeared in the photo above, and the final set of ports may differ. Unfortunately, it is likely that the console, which will go into mass production, have HDMI IN connectors, simply will not.
