Not just expensive QLEDs. Samsung will introduce Filmmaker Mode even for TU7000 TVs
Filmmaker Mode is the effect of the filmmakers' appeal to television producers in which they pressed them to master the use of so-called image enhancers. Samsung clearly took this appeal to heart.
The Filmmaker Mode, which will appear on new TVs from numerous manufacturers, will ensure image fidelity to the director's intentions. All video processing elements that are not intended for image reconstruction, but for its unnatural decoration will be turned off. These include motion fluidization, noise reduction, and sharpening. Filmmaker Mode is also intended to provide absolute fidelity to the original in terms of frame rate, screen color and aspect ratio.
Why only now? This is probably the answer to an appeal from well-known filmmakers, who do not like that modern TVs - in their opinion - often completely change the mood and pronunciation of the film by excessive interference in its visual layer. We expected Filmmaker Mode to go mainly to high-end televisions, i.e. equipment intended for enthusiasts. However, Samsung clearly wants everyone to have access to it.
Samsung TVs with Filmmaker Mode . The TU7000 series and higher will already have it factory installed.
Fortunately, not only the flagship QLED line will have a new image processing mode loaded. We cannot yet write that Filmmaker Mode will go to absolutely all Samsung TVs for 2020 - we don't even know the full offer yet - but since the manufacturer starts with the relatively cheap UHD LED line, we guess that it will be difficult to find a model without this mode.
Filmmaker Mode will be started automatically if the video material is marked accordingly. However, there is no obligation to use it. Many viewers prefer a vivid, fluid and bright picture and do not care that this was not the director's intention. The user will be able to watch movies and series as he likes. It's nice that also in equipment that is quite affordable.
