Making the geeks dreams come true. The new Lego set is a half-meter International Space Station
If you are looking for an interesting Lego set "for a child", and at the same time you have a geek line inside, then you should like the new proposal. This is the International Space Station.
Space theme is a very graceful motif of Lego sets. Recently, several really great models debuted aimed at space lovers. One of them is the NASA Apollo 11 lunar lander from the Lego Creator series.
Another is the huge and extremely detailed NASA Apollo Saturn V rocket.
The new Lego set is the International Space Station.
The model with the designation 21321 will go on sale on February 1 for PLN 320, which is not an exorbitant level for a half-meter set of over 860 blocks.
The International Space Station is really big, 20 cm high, 31 cm long and 49 cm wide. The set consists of exactly 864 elements.
The model looks like a treat for space fans, because it faithfully reproduces the look of the International Space Station. We will find here, among others Canadarm2 movable boom and swivel joints connecting to eight adjustable solar batteries. Plus a miniature NASA shuttle and three transport ships. We will also find two astronaut microfigures here.
The set also includes a stand, thanks to which the Station can be placed on a flat surface. The stand is unfortunately quite massive and in my opinion spoils the appearance of the structure. I think that a better idea for displaying this set on the shelf will be to use a transparent fishing line.
The International Space Station belongs to the Idea series, which contains very few models, but all of them are ingenious and unusual. The last loud premiere of this line was the Central Perk set from the Friends series.
Beautiful times for adult lego fans, isn't it?
I have the impression that the perception of Lego sets has changed in recent years. Most of them are still intended for the youngest, but there are more and more pearls directed to adults. Personally, I am a fan of the Architecture series, which has several models created to be an office ornament.
There are also more and more big, expensive and really complicated sets, such as the Bugatti Chiron car model tested by our colleagues from the Autoblog. The set costs up to PLN 1,700, so Lego doesn't even try to pretend it's a children's toy.
It is rather a kind of set addressed to people who grew up on their own in childhood, and who today can afford the whim of buying a really interesting and expensive set. Old love does not rust, especially if a part of it can be passed on to the next generation of builders.
