Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ are new smartphones targeted at the most demanding users. Here's everything you need to know about them.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and its bigger brother Note 10+ have just been officially presented. We had the opportunity to take these smartphones in our hands a few days before the premiere and check them in practice. Extensive first impressions can be found in a separate entry, while here we will focus on the complete information on the specification and prices.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 for the first time in two sizes

For the first time, Samsung simultaneously showed two models of the Note series. They differ in screen size, battery, rear camera and price.

The larger Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is a huge device. Its screen has up to 6.8 inches of diagonal and a resolution of 3040 x 1440 pixels (WQHD +, 498 PPI). The smaller Note 10 is much better in the hand, because the screen diagonal is 6.3 inches and the resolution is 2280 x 1080 pixels (Full HD +, 401 PPI).

In both cases we are dealing with the beautiful Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O screen, which has a slight edge curvature and a hole for the front camera. The screens support HDR10 +.

Smartphones cannot be mistaken for the previous generation of Note, nor for the S. Series. Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ have a more angular shape, but the most striking is the screen covering almost the entire front. The bottom frame is extremely thin, noticeably thinner than in the Galaxy S10 + or iPhone XS. In turn, the upper and side frames are quite symbolic.

The thickness of the upper and side frames is the same, but due to the curved screen, you can get the impression that the side frames are thinner than they really are.

The housing does not contain three elements known from its predecessor

The first absent is the minijack socket. Note 10 series is the first Samsung flagship smartphones without this element.

The second absent - but only seemingly - is the fingerprint reader. This element cannot be found on the housing. Samsung has opted for an ultrasonic reader embedded in the screen, as was the case with the Galaxy S10 and S10 + smartphones.

The third absent is the Bixby button. Eventually!

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ operate on the basis of the latest Exynos 9825 processor created in 7 nm lithography. Note 10+ is available in the 12 GB RAM and 256 GB variants as well as 12 GB RAM and 512 GB memory. The smaller version has 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal memory.

Both smartphones support microSD cards. We have a hybrid connector (SIM / microSD) and a second connector for SIM card. Both smartphones also support the latest communication standards, i.e. Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 5.0, ANT and of course NFC. Unfortunately, in Poland we will not see models supporting the 5G network, although such variants will appear on other markets.

The battery in Note 10+ has an enormous capacity of 4300 mAh, which should ensure up to two days of work. In turn, the smaller Note 10 has 3500 mAh, but it is worth remembering that the smartphone also has a smaller screen with a lower resolution, so the length of work should not suffer much in relation to the big brother. We charge smartphones via USB-C using fast charging. Note 10+ supports 45W charging (although such a fast charger needs to be purchased separately), and Note 10 supports 25W. Both smartphones have wireless charging and wireless reverse charging.

The equipment works under Android 9.0 Pie with the One UI overlay. Both Note 10 are equipped with stereo speakers and surround sound with Dolby Atmos technology.

The cameras in terms of specifications have not changed much compared to the S10 series

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is equipped with the same set of lenses as the Galaxy S10 +. For the record, we have here:

  • main camera: 12 MP with variable aperture f / 1.5 - f / 2.4, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS,
  • telephoto module: 12 MP, f / 2.1, 52mm (2x zoom), AF, OIS,
  • ultra wide angle: 16 MP, f / 2.2 (123 degrees).

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ adds to this set the fourth module, DepthVision with VGA resolution. He is responsible for measuring the distance, which allows for more reliable (because gradual) blurring of the background in portrait mode.

The S Pen has many new features

The stylus in both versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is equipped with its own battery, which is inductively charged as soon as the stylus is inside the Note housing. Working time on one charge is 10 hours.

In the previous generation of Note, the stylus could work remotely as a remote control, but we could only use the button. The Note 10 S Pen also has a built-in six-axis gyroscope that allows you to make gestures in the air. In this way, we can operate the smartphone remotely, at a distance. We make gestures by drawing appropriate figures in the air while holding the stylus button.

For example, gestures work in the camera application. The up or down movement switches the application to the front lens, and the sideways movements change the operating mode of the camera. Drawing circles activates the zoom in the camera. These types of actions are available in many embedded applications, and Samsung will also provide API to external developers.

Zoom also has one interesting feature, namely Audio Zoom microphone in video. If we zoom in on the image during recording, the smartphone will also use Audio Zoom implemented through a directional microphone. At a wide angle, the smartphone records all ambient sounds with all three microphones, and with zoom only the directional microphone works.

If we decide to take notes with the help of S Pen, the software will enable us to convert handwriting to text and save the file, e.g. to .docx format. It also works in Polish, although after short tests it turned out that the system is not doing well with Polish tails.

There are also extended features of DeX mode, which now works not only on monitors, but also on Macs and PCs. Note 10 also allows you to connect to Windows 10 under Link to Windows. This allows you to display notifications, send and receive messages, and view photos on your computer.

At the end of the price. What is the cost of Samsung Galaxy Note 10+?

The official Polish prices are as follows:

  • Note10 (8/256 GB): PLN 4,149,
  • Note10 + (12/256 GB): 4799 PLN,
  • Note10 + (12/512 GB): PLN 5,249.

The smartphone will be available in Poland in several colors. Note 10+ will be available in Aura Glow, Aura Black and Aura White. Note 10 will be available in the colors Aura Glow, Aura Black and Aura Pink.

Both smartphones will be available for sale from August 23. Advance sale of smartphones begins on August 7 and will last until August 22. The Samsung Odkup program will be available, as part of which it will be possible to resell the old smartphone in the settlement, gaining a code increasing its valuation by PLN 400. To take advantage of the offer, you must pre-purchase the Galaxy Note10 smartphone, activate the device before September 8, 2019 and generate a code in the Samsung Members application, and then price and resell the old smartphone via the website valuation.samsung.pl.
