We are just after the official European premiere of Sony TV sets for 2019. If it could be summed up in a word, it would have to be "complete". Almost every customer should find something very good for themselves.

Everything seems to indicate that Sony brand enthusiasts who, for some unknown reason, are disappointed with the current offer of the company, will be satisfied this time. The Japanese king of LCD TV sets (and also quite well performing on the OLED market) has prepared an offer, next to which it is difficult to pass by indifferently. Its actual quality will be determined by specific product tests. In theory, however, it looks better than very good.

Let's start with OLED TVs. With display modes developed with strategic partners.

This year, two models of OLED 4K TV sets from Sony will appear on sale. These will be AG9 and AG8 models. Their thickness when mounted on the wall is approximately half as much as previous models. Both are equipped with an X1 Ultimate image processor. Both also offer the technique of generating Acoustic Surface Audio + directly from the screen, thanks to which the spatial sound effect is very convincing.

Although I invariably insist on the fact that if it does not ruin the decor of the living room, even inexpensive speakers or soundbar should be a mandatory purchase for TVs of such a high class. Both TVs work under the control of Android TV with the Home UI interface - AG9 in the edition of Oreo, AG8 in the Nougat edition with the promise of an upgrade to Oreo. Both are also compatible with Apple HomeKit and AirPlay 2.

The first device is a flagship model of this manufacturer, as evidenced by belonging to the product line appropriately called the Master. AG9 will be available in 77-, 65- and 55-inch versions. Unfortunately, the TV does not support the HDR10 + standard, but it does not seem to be a problem, as it is very rarely used by content creators. However, there is no problem with decoding HDR10, HLG, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision signals, but this is not the end. Sony offers an additional Netflix Calibrated mode, which - as the name suggests - is perfectly tuned to the specifics of the video stream provided by this VoD service provider. In addition, it offers IMAX Enhanced mode - a proprietary Sony format, in which films from Sony Pictures will be mastered.

The slightly cheaper AG8 will be available in 55- and 65-inch versions. The biggest technical difference with the more expensive model seems to be the lack of support for Dolby Atmos audio decoding and a slightly weaker built-in sound system.

Not only OLED. Sony sees LCD TVs for 2019 as definitely fit for the premium class. There is a good reason.

The luxury offer of Sony LCD TVs will consist of XG95, XG90 and XG85 models. The most interesting is of course the most expensive model, available in 85-, 75-, 65- and 55-inch versions. It offers the most precise type of highlighting and blanking of pixels, which is full array local dimming. This means that - at least in theory - we can expect a sensational contrast on this equipment. However, I have some doubts: IPS matrices, obtaining the highest parameters on them is much more difficult than on VA matrices.

The X950G supports HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision, Netflix Calibrated Mode and IMAX Enhanced formats. It also offers the X-Motion Clarity system - it is one of the best mechanisms for artificially liquefying traffic. Subjectively, I do not like this effect, but I must admit that up to now Sony has offered the best-performing implementation. The TV can also decode sound in Dolby Atmos and uses the X-Wide Angle technique to provide very high viewing angles. It also has a very good sound system - like the one built into the TV set. Also supports HomeKita and AirPlay 2.

What's the difference between cheaper models? XG90 will work under the control of Android TV with Home UI in the Nougat version (with the promise of an update to the Oreo edition), but what's even more interesting, the cheaper XG85 will be sold from Oreo. Each of the TV sets will be equipped with different variants of the X1 processor, so the more expensive the model, the more image reconstruction mechanisms available. XG90 can not decode sound in Dolby Atmos and X85 is devoid of full array backlight.

XG95 is the only model for now, whose suggested retail prices are already known. We will pay PLN 8,000 for the 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch versions, respectively. PLN 11,000 PLN 20,000 PLN 25 thousand and finally zł. Although Sony stresses that it is the local distributor who decides on the final amount, the above may not be 100% accurate.

There is no shortage of attractions and a more affordable shelf.

Medium-sized TVs will be available in sizes from 43 to 70 inches. The cheapest of the models - XG70 - will not use the Android TV system, unlike the others, remaining a regular 4K TV. The XG83 model is equipped with an X1 image processing engine, while the others (XG81, XG80, XG70) have a simpler layout like X-Reality Pro.

All offer picture display in a wide range of colors (Sony describes it as Triluminos), most are backlit (although the largest matrices are illuminated with the direct LED method without local blanking). All televisions implement the full UHD (4K + HDR) standard.

Their prices and store availability in Poland remain secret for now.
