Android Auto for smartphones will be discontinued soon

The death of Android Auto caused a lot of excitement last year. With Android 12, Google's original phone-friendly interface for navigation, media, news, and more disappeared, leaving only Driving Assist and a handful of third-party services. And now, unfortunately, the time has come for drivers with Android 11 and older to say goodbye.

A new warning will now be displayed directly in the Android Auto app, announcing the imminent end of Android Auto. It now reads: "Android Auto for phone screens will stop working soon". This means that even older smartphones will soon be gone.

The message appears every time the app is opened, even if you swipe it away first. But Google has not yet revealed exactly when it will end.

The Assistant Driving Mode should serve as a replacement, which has developed a lot since its introduction, but is still not quite as mature as Android Auto.
