Android 13 will get official support for exFAT after years of development hell

With Android 13, for the first time, a Pixel device will be able to handle files larger than 4GB in disk space. For the first time, the exFAT file format will be supported.

Support for exFAT (Extensible File Allocation Table) will finally be introduced in Android 13. The exFAT support will be available for Android versions from Linux kernel version 5.10 or higher.

Pixel devices with the Android 13 beta should already run exFAT, but the feature is said to be missing on the betas from other manufacturers.

Eventually, other manufacturers will be able to pull exFAT support straight from the AOSP once Google exports its changes from Android 13.
