Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ postponed to second half of 2022
Just two months ago, we heard rumors that Qualcomm was planning to launch its new 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ flagship processor in May and the first phones with this processor are expected in June. Now we learn that those plans have been postponed and the new chip will appear in the second half of the year instead.
The reason for the delay is the current Covid situation in China. The Chinese city of Zhengzhou has been locked down due to China's "zero Covid" policy. Zhengzhou is also known as the iPhone City because of the massive Foxconn factory that makes most of the world's iPhones.
And now these lockdowns appear to affect not only iPhone production, but also Qualcomm's latest chip. What should be a major setback for many manufacturers. Let's see if it comes true.
