Sustainability and repairability play an increasingly important role for customers and companies today. That's why Samsung has announced an important change that will allow owners of selected smartphones and tablets to repair their devices themselves. Samsung is collaborating with iFixit.
Samsung makes smartphone repair easier for customers
So far, if a smartphone breaks, you either have to contact the manufacturer or try it in a shop where such devices are repaired. You can't do anything yourself with the mostly glued smartphones, since you often can't even get the right spare parts from the manufacturer. That changes in the summer. First in the US, Samsung will launch a program that will allow smartphone and tablet owners to repair their devices themselves. The instructions were created in cooperation with the repair professionals from iFixit (source: Samsung).
Samsung grants its customers access to the appropriate repair parts and tools . This is how you get the original parts you need. It starts with the Galaxy S20 and S21 smartphones and the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus. Samsung first starts by providing the display, the back and the charging socket. In the future, more spare parts and instructions for other devices will be offered. The old parts can be sent to Samsung for proper disposal.
The announcement does not yet apply to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra:
Samsung is taking an important step with this
This announcement is not only important for normal end users, but will also make it easier for repair shops to repair devices and get the correct spare parts. It will also ensure that smartphones and tablets can be used for even longer . The repair of the Samsung devices mentioned above is not easy, but with a little skill and the right instructions it can be done. After a fall, you may not have to replace your smartphone immediately, but can repair it inexpensively and continue to use it. Apple has already taken a similar step.
