Samsung: These devices will get the new camera features in One UI 4.1

Samsung released a new version of One UI based on Android 12 along with the Galaxy S22 series last month. The software release includes a number of new camera features, including an enhanced portrait mode with pet detection, support for night mode portrait photography, telephoto support for portrait videos, and more.

In the past few days, Samsung rolled out the One UI 4.1 update to some older Galaxy smartphones, bringing some of these new features to the devices. However, the company does not plan to roll out all new One UI 4.1 camera features to older Galaxy flagships.

As per a recent post on the Samsung Community forums, the One UI 4.1 update for older Galaxy flagships will include some of the new camera features of the Galaxy S22. But the update won't bring all the new features to all devices. Below is more information about which camera feature will be available on which device:

  • Portrait Light Positioning: Galaxy S21 Series, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy S20 Series, Galaxy Note 20 Series, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy S20 FE

In addition, the post reveals that One UI 4.1 will also bring some changes to the camera UI on these devices. For example, single shot mode will be moved to the More menu and AR Doodle mode to the AR Zone menu. In addition, the company plans other improvements, such as support for nighttime portrait photography with telephoto lenses, a new detail enhancement function for high-resolution images using AI, and improvements to the auto-framing function. These improvements will be rolled out to Galaxy smartphones in the first half of this year.
