Samsung has finally opened up about the current situation in Ukraine and has confirmed that the company will stop selling smartphones in Russia. Now Samsung has decided to remove the "Z" branding from its iconic foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are now listed as Galaxy Fold 3 and Galaxy Flip 3 on Samsung's Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian websites. The change has now been made. Interestingly, on Samsung's Ukrainian website, the Z branding is still intact.
Samsung appears to have made the changes on the sly as there has been no official statement from the company on the abrupt product name change, even on its flagship products.
In recent months, the "Z" symbol has become synonymous with the Russian military, something that ex-Soviet bloc countries aren't exactly happy about. Anti-Russian sentiment in these regions could be quite high given their proximity to the country.
