Samsung Galaxy S22 series: GOS (Game Optimizing Service) update has started
In South Korea, Samsung is rolling out an update for the Galaxy S22 series that improves the Game Optimizing Service (GOS). Recently, Samsung was counted for capping the performance of some apps but benchmarks were not.
A storm broke out last week when it became clear that Samsung's Game Optimizing Service doesn't optimize all applications in the same way. It turned out that games are often limited in their performance in order to save energy and keep the hardware temperature low. However, no benchmark tests could be found among the ten thousand apps that were optimized. This would falsify the real performance. Samsung promised a solution.
This fix arrives today in South Korea for the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. A firmware update will be rolled out there that offers users an additional mode. In this mode, performance limits are removed, allowing all apps to use the maximum CPU and GPU performance. Simply put, in this mode all apps use the performance measured in benchmark tests.
How well this solution works, what the noticeable impact on games and other apps is, and what the new status does with energy consumption and heat development will be seen in the coming days. It is not yet known when the update will be distributed in Germany.
