Price increase at Apple: Now it s getting more expensive when the iPhone breaks down
Apple feels compelled to adjust prices in this country – quietly. Customers who want to replace their iPhone battery outside of the warranty period are affected. With certain models, it's now getting quite expensive.
It is a well-known fact that rechargeable batteries are wearing parts that lose more and more power over time and with each charging cycle. This is also the case with the iPhone. After just a few years, a potential replacement of the battery is due. However, this is only free with Apple within the one-year warranty period or if you have opted for the extended and paid hardware protection with AppleCare+. Normally you have to pay.
Apple charges more for iPhone battery replacements
Depending on the iPhone model, this last cost 75 euros or 55 euros. There is now a price adjustment for the higher price level. From now on, Apple no longer charges 75 euros, but instead wants customers to pay 87.09 euros (source: Apple). The bottom line is a price increase of 12.09 euros (about 16 percent). Specific reasons for this increase are not given, so it can only be speculated about.
Incidentally, replacing the battery in the lower price range (55 euros) remains unchanged; Apple has not yet adjusted the prices here. The following conditions currently apply:
Battery replacement for 87.09 euros: Phone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini battery replacement for 55 euros: iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and all other eligible modelsSpeaking of batteries: What you always wanted to know:
Remaining repair prices not yet increased
Incidentally, all other service flat rates remain unchanged and will not be increased in price. For example, if you have to replace the display of your iPhone 12 outside of the warranty period, you still pay 311.10 euros. If the entire device has to be replaced, Apple charges 476.90 euros. Steep, but still cheaper than buying a new one.
