OxygenOS 12 wasn't a hit, and OnePlus had to admit that. At Mobile World Congress, OnePlus made it clear that OxygenOS will remain and will not merge with Oppo's ColorOS into a new "unified operating system". In fact, the company has already announced the next major update of its software – OxygenOS 13.
Following this announcement, OnePlus hosted an Open Ears Forum (OEF) about the upcoming version of OxygenOS, where some community members gave a preview of the software. The Chinese manufacturer has now published some details about this meeting.
OnePlus' forum post reveals that OxygenOS 13 is currently in development. The company introduced some new features to the OEF attendees. However, after gathering feedback from OEF attendees, OnePlus has listed the following wishes for OxygenOS 13:
- Improvement in UI personalization and consistency.
- Improved system consistency and optimized some function paths.
- Adding more features in AOD (like music player).
- Optimizing Zen mode to offer users a more immersive and efficient experience.
Interestingly, OnePlus also said that OxygenOS 12 didn't launch to a standard that matched its own expectations or those of the community.
The company also answered some frequently asked questions about the relationship between Oxygen OS and Color OS.
"Against the background of the integration, Oxygen OS and Color OS are two products with their own strengths. With strong competitors in the global market, combining the strengths of both products is the only way to really leverage the strengths of both Oppo and OnePlus and bring better products to our customers. The OS teams are fully integrated and willing to work together and learn from each other's experiences, together we will develop OS products hand in hand"
OnePlus
Finally, OnePlus confirmed that one of the goals of the united software team is to speed up all updates for OxygenOS and ColorOS while improving the quality of the software.
