Google Pixel 3a to Pixel 5: problems with NFC after March 2022 update
There are probably problems with the Pixel smartphones again after an update. After the last March 2022 update, users of the Pixel 3a to Pixel 5 models complained that there were problems using NFC.
Fortunately, users of the Pixel 6 (Pro) are not affected by this, as they once again have to wait a little longer for the corresponding March 2022 update. And maybe the problem with payment via NFC will be solved by the time it is rolled out.
After the March 2022 update, it seems that some devices from Pixel 3a to Pixel 5 are no longer NFC-certified and can no longer make payments with Google Pay. The error message "Your phone does not meet the software standards." should appear on affected devices.
The phone should no longer be able to be used for contactless payments because the device is said to be rooted or running non-certified software. However, users report that their device runs without any device modifications. So that means the problem is with Google and SafetyNet. It is not yet clear how widespread the problem is.
