{Disarmed} Nothing announces first smartphone Nothing (1) with Snapdragon processor and Android-based Nothing OS
Nothing hosted a streaming event today announcing that the Nothing Phone (1) is coming soon! Nothing, moderated by Carl Pei (OnePlus), explained that the Phone (1) will be the heart of Nothing's growing ecosystem and will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipsets.
We haven't been able to take a look at the device yet, but Nothing has shown a few screenshots of its Nothing OS. Carl mentions that it combines the best of Android with Nothing's "iconic design language". A few shared screenshots show them implementing the LED dot theme from their logo, custom weather and clock widgets, and a very clean lock screen.
According to Carl Pei, the Nothing Phone (1) will have fewer pre-installed apps and provide the optimal amount of processing power and memory depending on which apps you use. This allows for a "quick and smooth" experience. The Nothing Launcher will be available for download for selected smartphone models in April this year to give you a first impression of the new Nothing user interface.
As described by Pei, the Nothing Phone (1) will "bring a breath of fresh air into the sleepy smartphone industry" and offer users better value with a unique design. No specific specs have been given, but there are clear indications that Nothing will be working with Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony and Visionox as key component suppliers.
Pei confirmed that more information will be announced later this summer, guaranteeing a likely launch of the Nothing Phone (1), as well as three operating system updates and four years of Android security updates.
