{Disarmed} Don t be fooled: with this app you will know your real network coverage, ping, 5G performance and even usage times
There is a tradition that thousands of users do whenever something starts to fail on their mobile or computer: run a speed test . The problem is that any speed test is subject to many variables: the number of devices connected to your router , the band and type of connection from which we are accessing, etc.
With five stars and a lot of interesting data, the nPerf app seems like the perfect candidate to measure the speed of WiFi, the mobile network and many variables related to the net Mb/s that we receive. And much more, as you will see later.
The company behind this app is the popular Degroup Test. This team is known in the industry for refining the most famous test of all, the Speedtest.net developed by Ookla. Degroup dispenses with the OVH server and resorts to its own administrator, Loïc, with whom they boast of lower response times and more reliable speeds when especially fast connections are analyzed.
nPerf, an application to have everything under control
nPerf goes far beyond the speed test and measures the performance and qualities of the WiFi network in 2G, 3G, 4G LTE/LTE Advanced, 5G, Wimax mobile bands or in WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/ac dual-speed. band, tri-band and quadri-band up to 1 Gb/s.
Each gang has its own map and status bar. If, on the other hand, the test is carried out on a tablet or laptop equipped with an Ethernet port , the exam also analyzes the type of connection.
To top it off, in addition to being able to assign a traffic limit that notifies us when we have exhausted our data rate, the 'active mapping' section offers a precise position at a usual speed of 2km/h and collects data from our type of network.
Speed test and much more
Four types of exams can be carried out from its main page:
- A streaming test, where network performance is tested with videos at different qualities to measure loading frequencies.
- The usual speed/transfer test , where the averages and upload and download are established through the usual sending of data packets, the lost data, the general latency, the jit and the ping of the area. With the premium version you can adjust the number of established simultaneous networks and other additional values.
- A navigation test , which gives us load performance on common pages such as Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia or Google's own main page.
- Or, finally, carry out a complete test , which unifies the values of the previous three and offers a much more interesting general map.
All the tests, by the way, have buttons to share the results on networks and an extensive comparator from which to obtain relevant data such as the average performance in our local area , in addition to the national average through the different operators.
In this way we will know if we are experiencing a general or local network problem, or if it is something specific to our devices, our operator and all through a barometer in real time.
Added to this, the results are saved in a history that includes a map with the locations where they were made. If we create a profile and an access account, these tests are stored in the cloud so that we can compare them later from another device. And seeing how great it performs, it's worth it.
