Xiaomi ignites turbo: new smartphones clearly outperform the competition

Xiaomi is known for developing new technologies for smartphones and then actually using them in new models. The Chinese company made advances early on, particularly in the area of charging technology, showing how quickly modern smartphones can be charged. Now they want to improve the technology further.

Xiaomi wants to charge smartphones with 150 watts

Some time ago, Xiaomi installed fast charging technology that enables smartphones to be charged with 120 watts. Then it became relatively quiet about this technology. Now you probably want to come back and prepare for the next step. Mass production of smartphones with 150-watt charging technology is set to start soon (source: MyDrivers). That would be another big step in the right direction and would noticeably shorten the loading time.

The Xiaomi Mix 5 is expected to be the Chinese company's first smartphone to feature this 150-watt charging technology. Of course only by cable. It doesn't work that fast wirelessly at the moment. The Mix 5 series is known for its eagerness to access experimental technology. Equipment features such as the under-display camera are also tested there before they perhaps make their way into mainstream smartphones.

For comparison: Samsung can charge its current top smartphone, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, with a maximum of 45 watts . So the Xiaomi smartphone would be fully charged much faster. The big advantage of Xiaomi cell phones is that the right power adapters are included. Basically, you can't get anything from Samsung anymore. There is only the mobile phone, cable and a bit of paperwork.

Xiaomi has also tested a 200-watt technology:

Xiaomi becomes the new top class

Many Chinese smartphone manufacturers are working on fast charging technologies, but these are mostly only used in the laboratory. OnePlus used to be a strong player, but somehow got stuck with the latest high-end smartphone with 80 watts per cable. So it will be exciting to see when Xiaomi brings the new technology to a smartphone and how much time we really save.
