Tesla hands out: Nothing more can be expected from Apple
Tesla and Apple are no longer green, the e-car pioneer keeps teasing the iPhone manufacturer. Now Tesla's head of design is handing out himself and accusing Apple of being a quasi uninspired bunch from which nothing more can be expected - pretty strong stuff.
The Tesla is often referred to as the "iPhone" among electric cars, but there is anything but peace, joy and pancakes between the car manufacturer and Apple.
Tesla: Design boss finds Apple boring
The latest scandal: Tesla's design boss Franz von Holzhausen finds Apple's product design anything but inspiring. In my opinion, there is nothing more to be expected (source: Spike's Car Radio).
To quote his words correctly:
"The sad thing about Apple products is that there is nothing left to look forward to. I have a feeling it's just a sequel. It's just a slight refinement of the same thing, so it's hard to take inspiration from what they do."
A tough judgement. And then von Holzhausen follows. The Apple Watch has to serve as the victim of his targeted attack. He even owns it, but doesn't really see the benefit of it:
"I wear, and I hate to say it, an Apple Watch just for the fitness feature. Other than that, I haven't really found much use for the part, but whatever."
Holzhausen also had a hand in the Cybertruck:
What's the argument?
The bottom line is that the Tesla product designer doesn't really give Apple a good hair, the iPhone maker is summarily described as a boring bunch that doesn't sell very useful toys. But where does the resentment come from? Is it maybe pure fear?
Apple will probably compete against Tesla from 2025:
One should not forget that when Apple presents its own electric car in about three years, Tesla should be one of the most important competitors who will feel the effects directly. If the Tesla is still the iPhone among e-cars today, in a few years customers might prefer the "original" from Apple.
Either way: It is not the first and will not be the last attack by Tesla against Apple. Most of the time, however, it is Tesla boss Elon Musk who hands it out directly, as was the case recently with the "shot" against Apple's polishing cloth.
