Samsung makes turbo mode for Android phones even better

Some time ago, Samsung introduced a new feature for its Galaxy smartphones, which ideally can improve performance in certain situations. With the introduction of One UI 4.1, this turbo mode has been further improved and allows more setting options.

Samsung smartphones: Virtual RAM up to 8 GB

Many Chinese manufacturers started installing virtual memory in their smartphones some time ago. The normal memory is made available as main memory. Samsung jumped on the bandwagon a little later, but didn't allow any setting options . This is how 4 GB of internal memory was always converted into working memory. This is not ideal for smartphones with little memory. That changes with One UI 4.1, which Samsung is introducing with the Galaxy S22 smartphones and Galaxy Tab S8 tablets (source: SamMobile).

Those who install the latest software version on their smartphone can then choose from four options. Instead of a fixed 4 GB, you can then choose from 2, 4, 6 and 8 GB of memory , which is converted into working memory. If you have problems with performance in certain situations, this could be the solution. Older devices in particular, where RAM is limited, could particularly benefit from this. But such a feature is also useful for the future, because you can create some breathing room at the utilization limit of the main memory.

Currently, the feature is only available on the new Samsung devices that have just been launched. Over time, however, Samsung will of course distribute One UI 4.1 based on Android 12 for most smartphones and tablets . Then at the latest you will be able to decide individually how to distribute the resources.

Samsung extends update guarantee

Samsung was already one of the smartphone manufacturers that offers the best update supply for its smartphones and tablets. This has now even been extended. From the Galaxy S21 you get four new Android versions. For the Galaxy S22 with Android 12, that would be Android 16 . There are also security updates for five years. Not even Google can keep up. For us, of course, this means that we can use our Samsung devices for much longer.
