Samsung Galaxy S21 FE: Display problem spoils the fun
With the Galaxy S21 FE, Samsung has presented a very decent cell phone. Shortly after the start, however, reports from annoyed users increased - because the display has difficulties with the refresh rate. However, these could be eliminated with a software update.
Galaxy S21 FE: Samsung phone with display problems
The Galaxy S21 FE was released in January 2022 after a long wait. The mobile phone convinced us in the test, even if it could definitely be a bit cheaper. As it turns out, users are not only struggling with the price, but also with a rather annoying problem . The mobile phone sometimes seems to be slower than it actually is. It has to do with the refresh rate.
With the Galaxy S21 FE, Samsung has not opted for a variable frame rate. Instead, either 60 or 120 hertz is used. This is exactly where an error crept in, as user reports suggest. The refresh rate of the AMOLED display sometimes slips below 60 Hertz , which makes every animation appear slow (source: SamMobile).
Affected users are currently using a simple interim solution . It is therefore already sufficient to switch the screen off briefly and then on again. But since this can be a bit annoying in everyday life, users are now hoping for a real solution from Samsung. This could be provided in the form of a small software update. Whether and when this will appear is not yet certain. Luckily there is no hardware problem.
Here's what we think of the Galaxy S21 FE:
