Samsung confirms that Android 12L will be distributed for its tablets
Android 12L is Google's next "big" update to the platform, and it's focused on improving the experience for larger screens, including foldable devices and tablets. Along with the unveiling of its Galaxy Tab S8 series, Samsung has now officially confirmed that Android 12L will be coming to the company's tablets... eventually.
Android 12L was announced late last year with a handful of improvements for big-screen devices, including a taskbar for faster multitasking and a revamped notification panel.
Samsung itself is no stranger to Android 12L, as Google confirmed Android 12L features were coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 when the update was first announced. Speaking to 9TO5Google, a Samsung spokesman confirmed the company will be bringing Android 12L to its tablets, but couldn't give a timeline for when it will arrive.
"We are in constant conversation with our staff at Google and Android and we are committed to bringing Android 12L to our tablets in the future. At this time, we don't have a firm timeline as to when Android 12L will be available on these devices."
Samsung
It's the first time Samsung has explicitly confirmed that Android 12L for tablets is on the cards. To be clear, the Galaxy Tab S8 series will not launch with Android 12L as Google has not yet finalized the update.
Of course, Samsung's One UI already offers most, if not more, of the features Google is building into Android 12L, but it will certainly be interesting to see what Samsung takes from the update.
