Samsung and Apple miss the top spot: Stiftung Warentest selects the best smartphone brand

Stiftung Warentest has updated its smartphone rankings and announced new results. Various characteristics have now been used to determine which brand builds the best smartphones on average. Apple and Samsung are not, as the surprising result reveals. It is a manufacturer from China.

Stiftung Warentest: OnePlus is the best smartphone brand

While OnePlus is gradually being integrated into Oppo and the two Chinese companies are merging, Stiftung Warentest has chosen OnePlus as the best smartphone brand based on tests conducted in recent years (source: Stiftung Warentest). This puts the rather small smartphone manufacturer ahead of Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and many other companies.

Stiftung Warentest emphasizes that OnePlus builds the largest proportion of really good smartphones. The high stability of the devices and the consistently good displays that were installed were particularly positive. OnePlus also reliably delivers Android updates. The mobile phones are in a medium to high price range. Since 2016, Stiftung Warentest has checked 16 models from the Chinese company.

Behind OnePlus, Apple ranks second in the rating. This is followed by Huawei, Motorola, Samsung and Google. Depending on the manufacturer, however, a different number of models have been tested over time , so that this can have a positive or negative effect on the result. Far behind are Xiaomi and Nokia in the overall rating.

Other smartphones lead in individual categories

The 14 OnePlus smartphones tested did best on average in the Stiftung Warentest, but other manufacturers lead in important individual categories. iPhones are the best camera smartphones . Google and Samsung follow in second and third place. OnePlus is far behind in sixth place.

If you want a smartphone with a long battery life, then Xiaomi smartphones are at the forefront . Samsung and Oppo follow in second and third place. OnePlus only comes in 5th place here.

So it always depends on what you really want in a smartphone. OnePlus may be the best smartphone brand for Stiftung Warentest, but a OnePlus cellphone does not have to be the best smartphone for you at the same time.
