After being unavailable in the Google Store for several weeks, the Google Pixel 4a is now officially unlisted in the Google Store. Google has officially discontinued the cheap smartphone model.
The Google Pixel 4a was released in August 2020 after being delayed by several months - it was originally scheduled for release in April or May of the same year. The Pixel 4a only had 4G connectivity and a smaller 5.8″ display, and its mid-range Snapdragon 730G chipset ensured good battery life.
The Pixel 4a was the last Google Pixel to be released in many markets. Starting with the 5G Pixels (4a, 5G and 5), Google severely limited their release to key markets such as the US and Japan or even Germany. Global component shortages and supply chain constraints made it harder for Google to produce and sell enough pixels.
Google has planned the Pixel 6a as a cheaper model this year. But we still have to wait a few months until its release.
