Oppo's ColorOS has improved a lot since its official release. The current ColorOS 12 offers a finer user interface and has features such as 3D icons, Privacy Dashboard and Flexible Windows. Now Oppo has announced on Twitter that the ColorOS has over 500 million monthly active users worldwide.

According to the company, monthly active ColorOS users worldwide have passed the 500 million mark. That's impressive considering smartphone shipments are down 2 percent over the last year. Despite sales falling, Oppo still managed to overtake other Chinese companies, research by CINNO has revealed.

The number of ColorOS users is expected to grow even more this year as the company aims to launch a number of major phones.

One of them is the China premiere of the Oppo Find X5 series. The smartphone series will be launched in the country on February 24. It will include the Find X5 and Find X5 Pro.
