There's nothing worse than being faced with a frustrating error that your phone's manufacturer doesn't fix. You install update after update and hope for a change, but even after a reboot, everything stays the same. For months, OnePlus users have complained that the Gallery app freezes for seconds when sharing photos. The company is finally doing something about it.
An official post in the OnePlus community suggests that the company's development team has been working to fix the issue since the first reports, but the number of apps affected made it difficult. OnePlus notes that the freezing issue is related to Google Messages rather than the Gallery itself, hence the slight delay in finding a solution. Regardless, the company now admits it's aware of the issue and promises a fix will be available in about a week.
In the meantime, there is a recommended temporary workaround for users. If your device is affected, go to the Google Play Store and uninstall any updates for the Messages app. This workaround suggests that a recent change to Messages could be the culprit. Make sure auto-update is turned off so the app doesn't just re-download an old version.
