Honor takes second place among smartphone manufacturers in China
Honor conquers China! There is no other way to say it. Because in the past year, the former subsidiary of Huawei flew at a rapid pace. After the separation came the liberation and finally you could show what you can do.
You can still see that Honor and Huawei once belonged together. Many models from both manufacturers are still like twins. However, Honor is allowed to use Google services and 5G chips, Huawei is not. And that is also reflected in the sales figures in mainland China.
In the fourth quarter of 2021, Honor surprisingly took 2nd place behind Apple in terms of market share in China. 17 percent market share and 14.2 million devices sold leave the competition behind. That's a whopping 253.4 percent year-over-year increase.
Vivo sold 9.1 percent fewer smartphones in China in the same period, Oppo even 16.6 percent fewer. Xiaomi, on the other hand, was able to sell 11.1 percent more smartphones. However, the number of smartphones sold in China fell from 86.5 million to 83.4 million devices.
However, it must be said that the market shares of the manufacturers are very close together. There is only a 1 percent difference between Honor in second place and Xiaomi in fifth place.
