HONOR Magic 4 Series

Honor announced its Magic4 series smartphones at MWC 2022. This series consists of two smartphones, the Honor Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro. A previously suspected Honor Magic 4 Pro+ does not seem to exist, at least for the time being.

Both phones are made of metal and glass. The Honor Magic 4 has a centrally placed camera opening and a curved display. The Honor Magic 4 Pro has a pill-shaped display camera hole in the top left corner and a curved display, Quad Curved Panel.

Both phones have a circular camera module on the back, although they both look different and have different camera setups. They share some of the internal components.

First and foremost, it is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 that is used in both smartphones. The Honor Magic 4 comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage, while the Pro model offers 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. It is also equipped with the Honor Turbo Engine, which aims to maximize the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro has the "eye of the muse", as Honor calls the pill-shaped camera hole. Both phones feature a 6.81″ LTPO (1-120 Hz) display capable of displaying up to 1.07 billion colors. It also supports HDR10+ content.

The "Pro" model also offers automatic real-time conversion from SDR to HDR and an increased frame rate with motion compensation, based on MEMC technology.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro is IP68 certified making it waterproof and dustproof, while the Magic 4 comes with an IP54 certification.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro has a triple camera on the back. A 50-megapixel wide-angle camera (1/1.56-inch color sensor) is paired with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (122-degree FoV) and a 64-megapixel Periscope telephoto camera. The regular model has a different Periscope Telephoto unit, an 8 megapixel camera with a 50x digital zoom.

Honor claims that both the wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle cameras offer a 65 percent increase in image sharpness and clarity thanks to computer-assisted photography. The Periscope Telephoto camera offers 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom.

The company also claims that the "Pro" model delivers "cinema-quality recordings." It is equipped with the HONOR Magic-Log Movie Master and AI FIlm Effects.

The "Pro" model has a 4,600 mAh battery that supports 100 watt wired fast charging. In addition, it supports 100 watt wireless charging powered by Honor SuperCharge technology. The Honor Magic4 offers a 4,800 mAh battery and 66 watts of wired charging.

Both smartphones are pre-installed with the HONOR Magic UI 6.0, which is based on Android 12. Yes, Google services are included by default. In addition, the HONOR Magic4 Pro is equipped with Qualcomm's 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 and has advanced face recognition, which is why it also has the pill-shaped camera.

Both phones will be available in four color variants of black, white, cyan and gold. They will be launched in the near future, but we don't know when exactly yet.
