The Google Pixel 6a is Google's upcoming affordable mid-range flagship. We've heard a lot about this phone over the last few months and a possible release date is slowly approaching. A market launch could not be long in coming.

Although there is nothing concrete yet, there have been several rumors and reports that the Google Pixel 6a will be launched in May 2022 . If this schedule is correct, we should probably receive a first official announcement soon in the coming weeks.

The price of the Google Pixel 6a is expected to be a bit higher than the Pixel 4a. The Pixel a-series has had consistent pricing through the years since the release of the Pixel 3a, giving hope that prices are unlikely to change much this time around from the Pixel 5a.

The design of the Pixel 6a will be similar to that of the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. There have already been initial renders of the upcoming phone, and we can clearly see that it's an exact replica of the Pixel 6. There's a flat display on the front, a glass back, and the now-familiar camera hump. The renders show the absence of the 3.5mm jack found on most a-series Pixel phones so far.

Now for the specs of the Pixel 6a. There's nothing official we know about the specs. But there have already been a number of leaks. The mid-range Pixel 6a will most likely use the same Tensor chip found in the Pixel 6 series. The phone will have a 6.2″ OLED display with FullHD+ resolution. But the 120 Hz refresh rate could be missing, but then there should only be a 90 Hz refresh rate on board - hopefully. The panel will also have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Tensor chip is said to be paired with 6GB and 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It will run on Android 12. In the camera department, the Pixel 6a will reportedly not use the newer sensors found in the Pixel 6 series. Instead, there will be the well-known 12 MP Sony IMX363 main sensor and another 12 MP ultra wide-angle camera.

An 8 MP sensor for selfies and video calls is expected on the front of the phone. As for the battery capacity, it could offer a 4,800mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. The phone is said to be 152.2 x 71.8 x 8.7mm. As I said, nothing is official, so you should still take the specs with caution.
