Disney+ grabs Netflix series: Now it s official

Series and movies keep disappearing from Netflix. But now it's hitting the six Marvel series that should have been safe as "Netflix Original". But they are not, because they will run on Disney + in the future.

Update from February 24, 2022: The assumptions turn out to be correct. The previous Marvel series on Netflix (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, etc.) will actually be available on Disney+ in the future after they fly out of Netflix at the end of February. It starts on March 16th, but initially only in Canada (source: Engadget). It is not yet clear whether and from when the said series will also be available in other countries, but it can be assumed in principle. It's all just a matter of time.

Original article:

Netflix loses its own Marvel series: it will be over from March

Even before Marvel's own series were released exclusively on Disney +, they worked with other streaming providers. Especially with Netflix. So far, six series have been created in recent years:

Daredevil Luke Cage Jessica Jones Iron Fist Punisher The Defenders (equivalent to the Avengers the "joint venture" of said superheroes, minus the Punisher)

All of these series can only be seen on Netflix until February 28, 2022, after March 1 they will no longer be available. Both Disney (owners of Marvel) and Netflix confirmed the abrupt move (Source: The Verge) - a real shock to Netflix customers. If you haven't seen the series in question yet, you only have a few days left to do so. It is not yet known whether the series will be available elsewhere from March, for example on Disney +.

Daredevil (Charlie Cox) in the xiaomist interview from 2015:

The end was evident

But how can this even happen, after all, it's "Netflix Originals"? Maybe, but in April 2020 it was announced that Netflix would end up losing the streaming rights two years after the release of the last episode. Theoretically, Disney could have drawn this card even earlier and withdrawn the content in summer 2021, after all, the last season (Jessica Jones) already ran in June 2019.

Our assessment (warning: spoiler alert): It looks like Disney will bring the content back into its own Marvel universe and hopefully integrate it into Disney+ soon. This is less of a concern to connoisseurs, since two characters, or rather two variants, of the Netflix series have recently become canon. So we meet Matthew "Matt" Murdock aka Daredevil in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" as Peter Parker's attorney. As previously on Netflix, Daredevil is played by Charlie Cox.

And then Daredevil's nemesis has an appearance in the series Hawkeye on Disney+ - Wilson Grant Fisk, aka Kingpin, is back. Nobody plays him better than Vincent D'Onofrio, who reprises his signature role and causes horror.

In summary: Disney wants control and is taking it back from Netflix, Marvel fans among Netflix customers will probably need a subscription to Disney+ soon.
